Tell us about your company
Media Company supporting LOCAL businesses - Magazines and Newsprint Publications delivered to 218,000 SD County homes per month. Numerous titles to reach your geographic and/or industry niche with Hyper-Local focus.
What made you decide to choose this field or industry?
Created a product in 1984 that changed the locally targeted direct mail industry with a unique approach to the state of the art of promoting local businesses to neighborhood homes.
What is the most interesting part of your business?
Meeting business owners and learning not only about their businesses and helping them create effective and affordable marketing strategies & implementation; but learning about them as people is even better!
What do you wish you knew starting out, or what would you have done differently?
Oh my! How to focus ONLY on what THEY want instead of what I am selling/what I want. It's much easier now because I don't have to stress outside of my awful pus to get a sale in order to eat or pay rent! Now, if it's not a fit - I try to make a friend and learn something from the prospect; and seek to help them with other products and services. I can make connections with other people and/or businesses they want to connect with, or take out the trash if that's what they need! 😉
What are you most proud of?
The great friendships I've formed; and the results we have achieved for small businesses with small budgets that would have wasted much time and money buying the next thing because of false promises from "marketing" companies who really just want a transaction by promising overprices services with little real results, with no investment in the actual success of the program for the client.
Tell us something we would not know about you
I grew up on a farm with about every kind of livestock you could imagine, and a HUGE garden - we were totally self-sufficient! Also, how I literally cry with appreciation for waking up and experiencing the stunningly perfect climate we have in San Diego each morning - after growing up in Dust Bowl country with essentially two seasons (hot dusty wind; Cold wind)!
What keeps you inspired and motivated?
The people I meet and the reactions from truly good people deeply appreciate the attention and care they are given. Treating people with kindness is so very simple; but often not easily found. Great relationships are built, and exciting/wonderful things happen when you greet each person you greet with a kind smile and genuine interest in them!
When and why did you join the Poway Chamber of Commerce?
Introduction by someone I admire and trust; wonderful connections & events, and tremendous leadership at - and support from - the Chamber.

What has been your favorite part of being a member of the Poway Chamber of Commerce?
It's a looooooong list. The connections; relationships; business opportunities and transactions - and the events are FUN!
