2007-2008 PCLI Projects

  • Continued, improved and increased participation of sponsors and volunteers in establishing the tradition of Poway “Pride” Spirit Day – Volunteers in Action
  • Developed the CONNECT Program for connecting youth and community partners to encourage the spirit of volunteerism; developed database of all organizations that were looking for volunteers and “CONNECTED” them with Volunteer San Diego.
  • Focused on Water Conservation in partnership with the City of Poway by coordinated the use of the San Diego County Water District Splash Lab for educating elementary school children on the principles of Water Conservation.
  • Developed Tutoring program for Poway Unified School District Students in a partnership with Friends of the Poway Library for matching students who are in need of individual assistance with their school work with volunteer tutors within the community.

    • 2006-2007 PCLI Projects

  • Developed a Business Disaster Plan and Survival Guide
  • Prepared a Character Counts Ethics Program for Small Business
  • Planned for a Community Pavilion within the Town Center Project which would include meeting space for Chamber events.
  • Developed a Town Center Committee that would provide a forum for business leaders and residents to provide feedback to the City during planning and develop of the project.
  • Held Poway Pride Day, which had over 60 Poway business and Chamber members sponsoring the event and had over 100 volunteers working on clean-up, fix-up projects throughout the City.
